Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been coerced into joining a group of cyclists, known collectively as the Birmingham Irish Cycle Appeal (BICA). The group have taken to arranging a long bike ride once a year, in Ireland, to raise money for Birmingham charities. This year the ride is from Belfast to Cork starting on 23 July and lasting for 6 days, with about 550 miles to cover.
As you can imagine, it will be quite a challenge for me to cycle that far. Training has started and it is really hard going! We have around 2000 training miles to cover in the next 13 weeks.
However, it is worth it in the knowledge that all my lovely friends out there will be sponsoring me and that I willl turn into a twig by the time I have finished.
BICA have agreed to use some of the funds raised this year to support the Tiny Babies Appeal. This is an appeal which I have been involved in for about a year now. The committee (of which I am one) are trying to raise money to fit out the new neonatal Department at Birmingham Womens hopsital. The Birmingham Irish Cycle Appeal are hoping to raise £20,000 to sponsor a room for the Parents of sick babies who are at the hospital.
