Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On October 13th 2009 our lives changed forever. My partner Andy Reid was horrifically injured by an IED while serving in Afghanistan with his regiment, 3 Yorks. Thanks to the amazing medical care he received at both Camp Bastion and Selly Oak, Birmingham, he is now out of hospital and at Headley Court as a triple amputee. His strength, courage and determination have seen him walking unaided less than 3 months after the incident.
As his close family and friends we have spent time with him at home and Selly Oak, where we saw many other young men in the same situation as Andy and have all been touched and inspired by their bravery.
Although we are a bunch of unfit, smoking, alcohol loving 20 somethings we want to give something back. We thought about running a marathon, doing the Three Peaks or skydiving then quickly changed our minds!
We have all done the 90 miles drive from St Helens to Selly Oak several times so we thought we would do it one more time, but this time by bicycle.
On Saturday 3rd July we will leave St Helens Rugby Club and cycle to The Country Girl, Selly Oak. We were going to do it in one day but decided to take the scenic route so it may take a little longer.
All money raised will go to Help for Heroes who do an amazing job raising money and awareness for all those brave men and women who keep us safe.
