Story
12 of the younger & livelier IID members have got together two teams to do the Maggies London Night Hike this year.
This is an endeavour suited to us on many levels:
1. Maggies Centre is an inspiring concept in its desire to allow people to cope with cancer in their own way - it provides information, advice, psychological support individually or in groups & all free of charge & in beautiful environments close to the NHS hospitals where patients will be receiving medical treatment.
2. As architects, we love a building, & the night hike will incorporate access to many architectural highlights the gorgeousness of which might not be so obvious to normal people (Channel 4 building & the Royal Geographical Society) but will keep an architect busy evaluating quality of detailing for hours. Hours with other architects not you. If youre married or related to one, or just a friend, youll appreciate this is an opportunity for someone else to benefit from diatribe on the ubiquity of cedar cladding. You can rest quietly at home with a box set of The Wire.
3. This is a walk. Running wears out our corduroy.
If anyone feels the urge to donate to this very worthy cause we would be extremely grateful
Thanks from all of us x
