Sustrans – Urgent Repairs Appeal

 Sustrans developed and maintains The National Cycle Network. This spans the UK and currently consists of 14,000 miles of signed walking and cycling routes including scenic traffic free paths and quiet roads and lanes. It carries over a million walking and cycling journeys daily and passes within a mile of 57% of the population. The atrocious weather in 2012 has taken its toll on the Network and it is facing essential maintenance work on an unprecedented scale. In a normal year, around £1 million is spent on vital repairs to the National Cycle Network. But after some of the wettest weather ever recorded, maintenance staff and volunteers are struggling to cope.
