We provide care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness

Story

In the last months of his life my father, Dai Llewellyn, received the most phenomenal care from the Hospice in the Weald.  In November 2008 our lives were turned upside down by the realisation that terminal prostate cancer would take his life.  My sister Olivia was caring for him almost full-time, and the strain of his illness was hard to bear for all of us.  The Hospice in the Weald stepped in to provide Dad with the most wonderful care we could have wished for and their support throughout painful treatments and sleepless nights was invaluable.  It was the Hospice that allowed Dad dignity in a world of needles and medical examinations, and enabled Olivia and I to love him as daughter rather than carers in the last few months of his life. He died peacefully on 13th January 2009.

In memory of my father, I have decided to take on the challenge of the London Marathon this year and want to raise at least £9,000 for the hospice.  I've never attempted more than half this distance so the next few months are going to involve some pretty dedicated training and your support will help to spur me on more than you know!

For keeping a smile on so many faces, and in particular my wonderful Dad who made so many people laugh in his 62 years (and continued to do so in the face of this terrible illness) please support the hospice by sponsoring my marathon effort.
