Story
For some mad reason, I decided to take on the challenge of climbing kilimanjaro to end my gap year. I started climbing on tuesday. The climb took 7 days with 6 nights in a tent at high altitude. We reached the summit of 5895m on sunday the 20th. We woke at 11pm to start the last 1285m climb to the summit at midnight. The last stretch was the toughest challenge I will probably ever do. Having had amazingly sunny weather all week - we got rain on the way up, however due to the cold it very quickly turned to snow. In -25c we all looked like robots with rigid ice jackets. After reaching the summit, we soon found out from our guide, in 170 summits - he had never had weather as bad as we had experienced. After the sun rose, as you can see we had hot sun shine!
I climbed with Mother Jo and 7 other family friends.
All the money raised will go directly to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This will help to fund the re-development of their wards.
Ideally I am aiming to reach £2000. I would be hugely grateful if you could sponsor me and help me to achieve this target.
Lots of Love
