Why are we running?

In October 2006 Intercept lost a founder employee in a motorcycle accident that was no fault of his own. A talented Consultant and more importantly a dear friend, Matt Turner was a much loved and respected member of our business; however more importantly he was a devoted husband to Joanna and a proud father to young Max.

It was at 2:00am when Jo was woken by a knock at the door. Jo still speaks of image that she has of the policemen and their car on the road, which has been etched into the glass of her window. Even now she can sometimes see them standing there. Jo will never forget their care and support from that first encounter to the day in court some eight months later when the driver was finally charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.

Although Jo is surrounded by amazing people, family and wonderful friends, there were times when she felt the need to give them the space they needed to grieve and that is when she discovered the WAY Foundation.

The support of others who knew exactly how she was feeling was just what she needed at that time. Founded in 1997, WAY offers a self-help network for members across the UK, enabling people to share their unique understanding of being widowed young.

The WAY Foundation needs your help supporting widowed people. With your help we can raise their profile and do more for thousands of people every year. WAY receives no government funding and is entirely volunteer-led. Even though it is run by volunteers, they need funds to run their website, print promotional materials and publicise the work they do. It also costs money to train volunteers who respond to newly-bereaved members. To find out more about the foundation please visit their website: http://www.wayfoundation.org.uk

To keep the memory of Matt clear in our minds and to offer our support to both Jo and Max, Intercept Runners are raising money for the way foundation, so please offer your support and give generously.

Many thanks, Will, Richard, Richard, James and Sara
