On the 5th March I will be travelling out to Ethiopia on a two week project as part of a small group of UK Opticians.We are professionally trained volunteers and hope to change lives by giving back the gift of sight.

Vision Aid Overseas is an international charity dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eyecare in some of the world's poorest countries. It provides services in developing countries such as Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Zambia. This enables children to go to school and provides people with the means to support their families.

Ethiopia is still escaping some of the worst trappings of extreme poverty. There are still many places scattered across remote areas that are often hard to reach where people lack basic healthcare and eyecare is scarce.

For these people in very remote areas it can be their only hope of improving poor sight through their first ever eye examination and a pair of prescription glasses. 

A life without clear sight is hard for us to imagine but sadly it's a reality for many of Ethiopia's most vulnerable children and adults.

This is where you come in.You can make a difference. I appreciate money is scarce at the moment but just a modest donation can make a massive difference in helping us to help them.

Just £5 will pay for an eye examination and a pair of glasses to help a child see.
