  Hi! My name is Jane Everett , but some of you may know me as Dr Jane Oxberry through my work as a part-time GP in Church Stretton, South Shropshire.

  I am a great fan of the English band , Keane, and from this musical love, I am now an avid supporter of the small charity, RWANDA  AID as it is run by Keane's lead singer Tom Chaplin's father, David.

   It aims to help Rwanda to rebuild in the aftermath of the terrible genocide in 1994  when close to one million people were murdered. This struggle is made even more difficult by gruelling poverty.

  Rwanda Aid provides targeted tangible support for some of the country's most needy and vulnerable people, particularly in the remote south-western district of Cyangugu. It has done terrific work in building homes and schools in this area , as well as bringing healthcare and training to the local population.

  Some of the work is centred on the island of Nkombo where the problems have been made worse by an earthquake in February 2008 which made hundreds of families homeless.

  With the recent opening of the gym at Church Stretton, I felt I needed a new challenge, and aspiring to be able to run (comfortably-! ) the 10k distance seemed like a good idea at the time !! I have therefore entered the Brighton 10K race (which will be held on Sunday 21st November) and to spur me on with my training, I am raising sponsorship for Rwanda Aid ( www.rwanda-aid.org ).
