Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and hopefully help to change the lives of some very deserving children.

Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children is a national charity dedicated to supporting disabled and terminally-ill children. The charity has been helping disabled children and their families since 1991 and has, over the years, established the four following services:

A free helpline

Equipment grants

Medical Research funding

Campaigning

Below is a quick run down of the team that will be taking part in this challenge:

The Runnist – Fresh off of the back of a 3rd place finish in the Windsor Half marathon (albeit in in the 40-45 year old ladies race), Mr Richard Leonard has completed the Marlow Half Marathon before and having told the rest of the team about all the hills on the course is wondering why he is doing it again.  Wants to beat his previous time of 1h 49m and might have to claim a minute head start for each year over the younger members of the team.

The Speed Walker – After some heavy press ganging Mr Greg Robinson has stepped up and put his name down to run for this more than worthy course. With a strong level of base training walking from meeting to meeting via the tea room at a pace only ever seen in the Serengeti by tribesman fleeing from marauding elephants, Greg is confident of finishing in sub 2 hours.

The Couch Potato – With a long history of avoiding all running related activities and anything overly strenuous the final member of the team is Mr Joe Barnes. After some intensive training over the past 6 weeks Joe is confident of finishing the run, but is currently unsure as to which day this will be on.

The run is on the 7th of November starting at 9am from Sir William Borlase’s Grammer School in Marlow and if you would like to see your friend, loved one or family member at their lowest ebb I am reliably informed the best observation area is at the top of a very large hill know as Rotten Row near Hambleden.

This charity receives no government funding and heavily relies on the support from individuals and organisations to carry on funding its activities. Its operative structure means that 100% of any donation received is spent on helping children and can be restricted to fund equipment in specific counties. All funds raised through this justgiving page will be used to fund pieces of equipments for children living in Buckinghamshire. For more information and to find out how many children need help in your county, please visit the charity's website: http://www.newlifecharity.co.uk/county/index.shtml
