An update on my walk through the battlefields of the Somme and Ypres. This was a fantastic experience and one I would recommend to others to try. The highlight of the walk was the Last Post at 8pm on the Sunday night at the Menin Gate. We had prime position and were lucky to meet a member of the committee who organises the buglers and events at the Menin Gate and stood beside him at a very emotional ceremony with a piper playing The Flowers of the Forest and another reading "We shall remember them ......." after the Last Post had been played. I saw my great-uncles name on the plaque on the Menin Gate and felt very humbled by the experience. Thanks again for your donation for The Hansel Foundation.
