Yeh I did it!! Can't quite believe I can now say have done a marathon.

For reasons Andy, my husband, doesn't quite understand I am running the 2010 London marathon.

I am doing this for a few reasons, mainly I've wanted to run a marathon for a few years now and also I want to raise money for Help the Hospices.

I have chosen to run the London Marathon 2010 for Help the Hospices because I wanted to be raising money for a charity that really meant something to me. As many of you will know, my granda passed away on whilst in St Margaret of Scotland Hospice, . Before my granda was admitted to the hospice I had heard of hospices but never really understood the care and compassion they gave not only to the patients but their family as well. The hospice allowed my granda's final few weeks to be as comfortable as possible and for his family to be around him. It felt like a home from home where the staff always made you feel welcome. The care the hospice gave allowed my granda to pass away with the dignity and respect he deserved and for that I will always be grateful. It is for this reason that I would be delighted and truly grateful for any donation you give to allow the Hospices of the to continue their much needed and valued work.

Help the Hospices is the national charity for the hospice movement. They support hospices in their vital work caring for terminally ill adults and children, and their friends and family, when they need it most. They provide hospices with funding, specialist training, free information and advice, and by giving a national voice to their interests and concerns.

I am not doing it alone, and before you ask no Andy isn't doing it with me, I am running it with my sister Liza Linton who has chosen the charity SSPCA. Her Just Giving page is http://www.justgiving.com/Liza-Linton
