Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, what started as a drunken bet over a few beers is now starting to hit home that on the 25th April 2010 (less than one month) I am going to be joining 40,000+ other nutters to run 26.2 miles or 42.195 km which ever way you want to look at it but I do know one thing and that is it's a bloody long way. To most it is also known as the "Virgin London Marathon". Eeeeeek.
I'm sure many of you have been following Eddie Izzard on BBC-3 over the last month or so. Well you don't need to say what an inspiration he has been to me recently - if he can run 43 marathons in 51 days then I can sure as hell run 1 marathon.
On the training side of things all has been going well both on the roads (snow, rain, wind and the odd bit of sunshine) and off the roads with the occasional coldie (one gets ever so thirsty after a 13 mile jog) but through all the sweat, tears and blisters I am on track so to speak. Challenges so far have been taking part in the 10K Hyde Park, Half Marathon at Tunbridge Wells and Half Marathon at Silverstone but nothing is going to compare me to the London Marathon which is going to be the biggest challenge of one's life. What on earth was I thinking - damn that last beer!
One thing I’m pretty sure of though, is that if I get enough generous support through sponsorship and cheers on the day (and with a bit of that thing called LUCK) - I’ll make the distance!
I am running for a Charity close to my heart which is the MS Society and if you would like to donate whether big or small it will be most appreciated. Good luck to all the runners on the day and many thanks for your support.
