Story

I'm attempting to break the British marathon record on a rowing machine...

The pandemic has impacted and affected the entire UK. Our charities are still doing their phenomenal work but have lost countless vital fundraising opportunities. Along with thousands of others I was due to run the 2020 London Marathon; our nation’s biggest fundraising day of the year. Training for the rowing attempt has served a dual purpose for me during isolation: giving me a goal and outlet along with the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Headway. Over the last 2 months, 50% of brain injury survivors have lost access to vital services and over 60% of this vulnerable group are feeling isolated.

Lockdown has been a powerful reminder to us all how important exercise is not only to our physical but also our mental health. When I was recovering from a serious head injury, exercise was the only thing I could control and see progress in. Along with Headway’s amazing support it helped me through some very dark times. The phenomenal work Headway does for victims of head injuries and their families is ongoing and underfunded so please help me to give something back to them so they can continue their selfless work.

Thank you so much,

James
