Story

3 MARATHON CHALLENGE!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This autumn I shall be running three marathons in the space of 6 weeks, Berlin September 20th, Amsterdam October 18th and finishing up with New York November 1st. It will be pretty tough to do these events so close to each other so please show your support by donating to a very worthy cause.

In Amsterdam I shall be running along side a friend, he is also raising money for charity and his page can be found here: http://www.justgiving.com/Timothy-Alderslade/

UPDATE 05/11/09

New York Marathon Completed! The final marathon couldn't really have gone any better. Good weather and an incredible course with an amazing crowd helped me run a new personal best of 4 hrs 18 mins 59 seconds, 19 minutes faster than Amsterdam two weeks earlier. I wasn't expecting such an improvement considering the short amount of recovery time and the course in New York being the hilliest out of all three. It was such an amazing feeling to cross this finsh line in particular knowing that this hard challenge was finally over. 78.6 miles taking 13 hours 52 minutes and 29 seconds in three countries on two continents. That's probably enough running for the moment but watch out for future projects. In just 6 weeks I've improved my marathon time by 36 minutes so it would seem silly to stop running now!

Please keep donating! A huge thank you to all of those who have already shown their support by giving a donation, it is hugely appreciated by me and the charity.

UPDATE 20/10/09

Amsterdam Marathon completed! On a good day for running I ran a time of 4 hrs 38 mins, 17 mins faster than last month in Berlin! Now it's less than two weeks to recover and prepare for the New York Marathon on 1st November. Please keep the donations coming, we are nearly there!

UPDATE 20/09/09

Berlin Marathon completed! On a hot sunny day I completed the first marathon in 4 hrs 55 mins, 16 mins faster than my personal best. Very pleased, now time to rest my stiff legs!

UPDATE 16/09/09

Well only a few days to go now before this all kicks off. A very big thank you to everyone who has already donated and if you haven't done so, don't be shy! I shall write another update post race on Sunday afternoon!

UPDATE 13/08/09

Yesterday I was in a local pub (training hard obvisouly) and I met two brothers who had been at my school. My marathons came up in conversation and they then revealed how their father had passed away from cancer in Sobell House a year ago. This really brought home to me how important the work of this charity is and what it means to the families of those who go there for care. This has inspired me to train even harder and I hope we can break through my fundrasing target.
