Story

Over the 25th and 26th May 2019 a group of friends and family will take on the national 3 peaks challenge to raise enough money to build a classroom at a small school in the deprived community of Mutendere, Lusaka, Zambia.

Kelly and Keith, who are organising the challenge, have volunteered at the school on several occasions in the past and have witnessed the excellent work the small group of teachers do. Education needs to be privately funded in Zambia, but many children in this deprived area struggle to pay. Thankfully Chileshe, Gideon and team are on hand to support them but with only two classrooms, and over 200 students, they have ran out of space so we want to help change that by raising enough money to build at least one new classroom.

We are going to raise money through sponsorship for taking part in the national three peaks challenge, which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, hopefully within a 24 hour period.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). The total driving distance between the mountains is 462 miles.

About the charity

The Volunteer Zambia Foundation (previously the Perfect Day Foundation) was established in 2008 to ensure the friendships formed on the sports fields of Zambia will develop to benefit further generations of sports people.
