Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you should now be aware I am competing in my first (and last!) ironman triathlon on August 1st 2010. This consists of a 3800 metre open water swim, 112 mile bike ride then a marathon.

You may not be aware that my wife, Sian Shipley, has a muscular disorder known as Fibromyalgia which means she has constant and widespread pain in her neck, back, arms and legs.  I say you may not be aware of this because if you know Sian then you will know that she never moans or complains about her symptons and people could find real inspiration from her if you are finding life difficult.

At the moment there is no cure for this disorder but there are methods of making the symptons more bearable. Therefore I would appreciate it if you could dig deep to donate to this very worthwhile charity.

I originally wanted to do this event for myself and not charity because I was worried that if I picked up an injury I wouldnt be able to complete the course and would feel guilty for collecting money for charity. With that in mind I want you to donate with the knowledge that if I can get to the end of the course then I will. Anyone who knows me however, know I dont give up on things too easily!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Update:   Some of you are asking how the training is going. Everything is going to plan so far, this is an average week:

Tuesday         Hour run, hour swim

Wednesday   Hour run, 3 Hour Bike

Thursday         Hour run, hour swim (Most painful sports massage in the world.......Perry!!!!)

Friday            2 Hour Bike

Saturday         Open water swim, 4 Hour Bike

Sunday          2 Hour run

Monday         Rest!!!!
