I would very much appreciate if you could kindly sponsor me to take part in the Tackle Africa Football Marathon 2010. Last year our team, Banner's Fury, finished a very respectable 5th place in the final standings,and we hope to do even better this year whilst raising even more money. Obviously this year I don't plan on breaking any limbs though!

The Football Marathon takes place on Clapham Common on 7th August 2010, with teams playing for 12 hours in a fundraising super-tournament.  Last year there were 50 teams and 400 players, with over £120,000 raised to fund TackleAfrica’s work in 7 African countries.

During the event my team will play at least 25 games of 6-a-side football over 12 hours, and based on last year's average i will run at least 35km!! That's a flipping lot!

All the money raised goes directly to TackleAfrica, helping run long term programmes in 6 different African countries (Uganda, left, Ghana, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa) helping young people affected by and at risk of HIV.  TackleAfrica train local coaches, peer educators and youth leaders to use the TackleAfrica training manual to deliver HIV messages to young people through football coaching.

TackleAfrica are run almost entirely by volunteers and every penny we raise makes a huge difference to the people and organisations in Africa that we support.  For more information visit www.tackleafrica.org
