Story
In April, I will be taking part in an event called the Marathon des Sables.
The MdS is a multi-day 'ultra-marathon' taking on the equivalent of 7 marathons in 7 days.
For the last few days before I go, I'm going to write a few blogs on some different experiences I've had related to the MdS. Here's the first - http://wp.me/p5Xh2X-4
The distance of the MdS is the equivalent of:
- Running from London to Dover
- Deciding not to go to France and then running back
- In 120 degree heat
- With a backpack on
The longest day includes over 60 miles of running and I will be self-sufficient throughout the event. That means carrying my food for the week, my sleeping bag and any other items that I will need.
I'm raising money for Age UK as it's a charity close to my heart as I lived with my grandparents when I was growing up
If you who want to find out more about the MdS, James Cracknell (Olympic gold medal rower) completed the event in 2010 and did a really good documentary - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0Qak8e4vYA
