I have recently decided, quite last minute, to join the Kick4Life All Stars Project, which is taking place in Lesotho, Southern Africa in March 2024.

The main aim of the charity Kick4Life is to change the lives and long-term prospects of vulnerable young people in Lesotho, through a wide range of sports-based social development activities focused on health, education and support towards sustainable livelihoods. 

Upon arrival in Lesotho, I and the other project members will receive training in health, education and life skills activities courtesy of the local coaches. 

Then after a couple of days it'll be time for us to present what we have learnt to the children enrolled in the charity, hopefully in a fun but informative way, to help to support their educational needs.

Lesotho is a beautiful country with a rich history and culture, but unfortunately it has the worlds second highest prevalence of HIV (23.2%) and more than 160,000 children have been orphaned.

The charity uses its passion for football to address these issues, helping young people to stay healthy, achieve their potential and contribute to the sustainable development of their country.

From a personal perspective, I grew up playing all different sports and being a member of various clubs including football and continue to benefit from the support and development that they can bring.  

I have two young children who have already had lots of opportunities and experiences in their short lives and who I hope will have many more in the future.  I would love to be able to play a part in giving children who are not so fortunate a better chance to succeed and live a happy, healthy life.  I am also excited to learn about the culture and values of a country unlike any I have been to before and which will give me a completely new perspective.
