The Wordbox Knockout Challenge

An afternoon of fun for local businesses

Friday 10 June 2011

The Challenge is upon us

We are a public relations agency, located in the heart of Guildford, and last year celebrated 15 years in business with the launch of the Wordbox Knockout Challenge, a charity fundraiser for local businesses.

Hoping to build on last years success, we are back with the Wordbox Knockout Challenge 2011, to give an afternoon of fun and entertainment to our local businesses.

We continue to support our local childrens charity CHASE Hospice, who are also celebrating their recent merge with fellow childrens charity, Shooting Star.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Shooting Star CHASE and the date/venue to log firmly in your diary is Friday, 10 June 2011, from 3.00 – 7.00 pm at Stoke Park, Guildford.

Jane Newick, managing director, The Wordbox Group explains:

“The idea is that in return for a small charge, a company can enter a team of 6 people to take part in a range of action packed games. There will be something for everyone, from the quite energetic to the more genteel.  It’s early days in terms of planning, but inflatables, props and foam may well be involved so be prepared for an afternoon of mayhem!”

Games with real prizes

•          1.  Bouncy-Bouncy.  In relay the team negotiate our double logged inflatable obstacle to collect the most quoits rings in the allotted time.

•          2.  Baa Baa Blind Sheep.  A funny blind-fold game.  One of the team is the sheep dog, their job is to guide the rest of the team (sheep) up the obstacle course.

•          3.  Caterpillar Race.  The team in two parts stand inside and walk the caterpillar tracks up the course and back again.  If only it was a simple as it sounds !

•          4.  Target Humpty.  A multi-task game involving one of the team dressing up in our large Humpty-Dumpty sumo suit.

•          5.  Hockey Slalom  (can be ran wet or dry).  The teams in relay slide through our tunnels inflatable to then hockey slalom up the course to the goals.  Most goals wins.

•          6.  The Bubble Pit  (wet game).  In relay the teams go into the inflatable bubble pit to collect objects from the foam/bubbles.  A great funny game to finish with.

•          7. Wordbox Knockout Challenge Finale. Two teams go head to head to compete for the Wordbox trophy.

“There will be lots of different ways for businesses to get involved.  In addition to taking part in the games, there are sponsorship opportunities and we will also be running a raffle with top quality prizes.”

“The afternoon will end with a presentation to the winning team followed by a barbecue. We are hoping that local businesses will really support us by entering as many teams as possible.  It should be a great afternoon and we are looking forward to raising as much money as possible for Shooting Star CHASE.”

The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice and CHASE hospice care for children were originally two separate charities, merging on 1 April 2011.   Now as one charity, Shooting Star CHASE is caring for over 500 families living in western London, Surrey and West Sussex.  Families receive support free of charge, 365 days a year, in their own homes and communities and at dedicated children’s hospices.

“Shooting Star CHASE provides care and support to families who all have one thing in common - a child who will not live to reach adulthood because of their medical conditions. The money raised at the Wordbox It’s a Knockout Challenge will make a fantastic contribution towards the £4 million it costs every year to run our vital service.” Natalie Madigan, Corporate Fundraising Manager.

Shooting Star CHASE care for children provides nursing, practical and emotional support to families with children who are not expected to reach their 19th birthday.

Shooting Star CHASE relies on donations and the support from local companies in order to continue the hard work in our community.   We welcome you to join The Wordbox Group to support this worthwhile cause and enjoy a fun filled day!
