Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page ahead of the Great North Run on 19th September.
This is the second half marathon I (hopefully) will have competed in, but this time I am training hard to try and do it without stopping (albeit pretty slowly). This time I am running for Cancer Research, which has become a charity which is very important to me. As some of you will know, this has been a difficult 12 months for my family and many of my friends who have been affected by cancer. If my amazing Mum can beat cancer then I am pretty sure I can make the effort to run for 13 and a bit miles.
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Its groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives. They have made a huge number of important discoveries which have fundamentally changed the way we can prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
Cancer Research's work is entirely funded by the public – so the money you donate for this run that helps its researchers to lead the world in tackling cancer, and preventing and curing this horrible disease.
Please please dig deep and donate what you can afford for this good cause. To thank you, I promise to jog as fast as I can, wearing my special personalised vest (Jen on the front, Eileen on the back, so the people of Newcastle will make me smile everytime they shout 'Come on Eileen' as I struggle past). I might even get a tutu for the occasion. And you might even get to see the photos.
Thank very much
Jen x
