Story

In September 2022 we lost my wonderful and much loved uncle Aidan very suddenly to a heart attack. Aidan was just 56 years old and is missed every day by our whole family and his large circle of friends.

As you probably already know, I ran the London Marathon in 2023 in his memory for the British Heart Foundation and due to the amazing generosity of friends and family, raised an incredible amount of money, over £5800!

The 5 months I trained for the marathon were 5 of the hardest months of my life both physically and emotionally. I cried more times than I can remember, but every day I got out the door because I knew I had a goal, and there was absolutely nothing that was going to stop me from getting to that finish line. Luckily I did get to the finish line and I had the best (and most painful) day of my life!

So, what’s next?…

Well, since I’ve already completed the London Marathon and got the T-shirt, I have decided to go one bigger and just a little bit crazier. Aidan would have expected nothing less!

So in 2024, I will be attempting to run not one but TWO marathons in 7 days starting with the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 14th April 2024, followed by the London Marathon a week later on Sunday 21st April 2024.

Why would I put myself through this, I hear you ask?

1. I’ve always been a bit nuts and like to do weird and wonderful things. I love a challenge and love to push myself outside of my comfort zone.

2. I can. I am so incredibly fortunate to have 2 legs that can run, 2 eyes that can see and a heart that beats. I am alive and well when so many are not so I feel privileged to be able to run when so many do not have that opportunity.

3. Most importantly, I am doing this to raise as much money for a cause very close to my heart. This year I will be running for Heart Research UK. They are a smaller and slightly less well known charity than BHF, so it’s my honour to run for them and try and help them raise as much money as possible to support their pioneering research and education projects into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart diseases.

Thank you so much for reading and BRING IT ON! 🏃🏼‍♀️

PS…yes I am very aware that I am nuts.
