We do capacity building in Belarus to help disadvantaged communities

Story

On one of my many lockdown walks I asked my Grandma about her volunteering role at The Together Plan.  As I was thinking of drawing pictures and giving them away to raise money for a charity - maybe a heart charity - I was very much attuned to what she had to say......  She told me that she volunteers in the Archive Services section of The Together Plan.  She helps people find out about their ancestors in Belarus - many of whom were murdered in the Holocaust.  I really understood the impact of not knowing what happened to someone's ancestors.   I was so impressed that this work is taking place.  It is soo valuable.  This charity is small and not like the big heart charities (although they are very very important too) my decision was instantly made.  I am now telling people about this amazing work and will then give them one of my paintings.  The charity also supports isolated and vulnerable Jewish communities (in Belarus) and is helping building  a Jewish Cultural Heritage Trail in the country.

The Together Plan is a UK charity dedicated to the rehabilitation, repair and revival of Jewish communities coming out of collective trauma in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, enabling, rather than providing, through a self-help approach. In spite of the traumatic past, there are many who yearn to reconnect with their lost identity. It is the mission of The Together Plan charity, to help those Jews still living in the region learn how to rebuild their communities, and also to reconnect those in the diaspora to their ancestry and the homes they left behind. The Together Plan is playing a vital and much needed role in the repair and renewal process for a better connected and meaningful Jewish future for Jews everywhere. We send humanitarian aid and resources that reach Jewish and non-Jewish communities throughout Belarus and our community work helps to bring Jewish and non-Jewish people together for a better civil society.
