Story
My friends and I walked from Glen Clova Hotel car park up to, and around, Loch Brandy, a distance of 8 km and a height gain of 620 metres, on Sunday 16 May 2010 in order to raise funds for Action for M.E. and also raise awareness of M.E. My Mum, Karen Hall, has been suffering from M.E./CFS for over two years now and I wanted to do something to help her and all the other people in the UK who suffer from this disabling illness.
I chose this particular walk to raise money for Action for M.E. as this was one of Mum's favourites. Mum being ill has had a huge effect on all our lives as she doesn't have the energy to do much these days and we hardly ever get the chance to do things as a family. This has helped me to realise how the illness can dramatically affect people's lives and how important it is to raise not just funds for Action for M.E. but also awareness of M.E.
M.E. is a fluctuating long-term illness that can affect anyone. It is also diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS). Common symptoms include overwhelming exhaustion, pain, headaches, sleep disturbance, "brain fog", memory problems, digestive problems and increased sensitivity to light and sound.
I would be very grateful for any amount, large or small, which you could sponsor me and my friends on our big walk.
Thanks in advance
Jodie xx
