Thanks for visiting my Just Giving Page, and I really hope you can help me, help lots of small children in Uganda.
How?
I'm going to Uganda in November to help build a secondary school for 450 children. This page is to raise money
directly for the charity - International Needs UK - not for my flights. All money raised on this site goes straight into the charity's account.
Why?
Ogilvy (the company I work for), has partnered with the development charity, International Needs, whose mission is to bring lasting transformation to people and areas of great need. This particular project is called ‘Many Ogilvy Hands’ and its aim is to provide desperately needed education to approximately 450 children.
We send a team of 10 Ogilvy people to Uganda for one week, three times a year, to help with the projects. It’s a long term project and International Needs will make sure that it is all done in the interests of the community – Ogilvy people will simply provide some of the man power(?), the funding and the passion to help get it built.
So what exactly am I going to be doing?
Basically, helping to build some of the school buildings, we’ll work with the local labourers to help dig the toilet facilities, put up walls, plaster rooms, clear rubble – basically whatever needs doing.
Between now and November I will be undertaking all sorts of activities to raise a minimum £1000. The first of which is a joint initiative with Donna Brown (
www.justgiving.com/donnagoestouganda), we’ll be having a rainbows from rags sale – collecting and reselling fabulous secondhand gear (clothes, shoes, homeware etc) on the 8
th Oct in the Ogilvy offices. We’re also having a big Halloween Party – details tbc and the Ogilvy band are performing a one off special on 6
th Nov – more details tbd
We need money to buy bricks, cement, tiles, plumbing, glass, furniture, books, kitchen utensils, and everything else that is needed for the school - including the salaries of professional local builders, and above all the teachers. So anything that you can donate really will help.
How can you help?
With your help, we can make a make a huge difference. There are 2 simple ways you can do this:
1. Make a donation on this site.
2. Come along to one of the events we’ll be running and donate there
3. Use the links on
www.easyfundraising.org.uk/moh every time you think about shopping online (retailers will then donate up to 15% of your spend to the cause, which is a huge amount of 'free' money!)
And the boring bit...
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks
