My dad and I have decided to set up this JustGiving page in order to raise money for a great cause. My sister Leanne and partner Dan gave birth to a gorgeous little girl named Macey in September 2009. Macey was born at 22 + 6 weeks gestation. Unfortunately God decided he needed a new angel and she was taken away 10 minutes later. She gave everyone the most precious memories we could hold on to forever. This devastated our families but opened up our eyes to premature babies.

Leanne became pregnant again and unfortunately we did think the same situation would occur but Colchester Hospital fought to keep Jacob in the womb for as long as possible. This was done to enable a safe transfer to a hospital who had the facilities to cope with a premature baby. Colchester Hospital are only equipped to deal with babies born at 32 weeks and above. Leanne was transferred to University College Hospital to give birth. At this paticular hospital they specialise and do continuous research into premature babies. Jacob was born on April 25th 2010 at 23 + 3 weeks gestation. The doctors done an excellent job to stabalise him and each day since Jacob has continued to amaze us all with his strength to succeed. A short while after, Jacob was transferred to Great Ormond street for various operations (heart/bowel/hickman line) which have been successful and he continues to stay there until he is transferred back to UCH. Leanne and Dan are a long way from home but with great support from G.O.S.H, they have been placed into a charity house where they can support and be with Jacob 24/7.

We hope from raising this money other families can benefit from the support Leanne and Dan have received so far. We also aim to raise this money to raise awareness and continue the research into premature babies and to put towards the purchasing of equipment which will help save these special babies lives. It would also help if more hospitals were equipped with a neo-natal care unit for babies born premature as much as 23 weeks. Premature babies are becoming more common worldwide and something needs to be done to make this common knowledge. Jacob is living proof that a premature baby can survive with the specialist knowledge and expertise.

♥♥ Macey will continue to be our precious little princess and be a big sister to Jacob and we need to raise all the money we can to support others and raise awareness for premature babies ♥♥
