Story
A group of us at Ogilvy London have undertaken an exciting project in partnership with the charity organisation International Needs, where we are going to build a secondary school for 450 children in Buikwe, a small town in Southern Uganda. Once the school is built, we’ll move onto other projects – building an orphanage, for example, or funding new farm machinery, or boring wells. And everything’s going to be hands on. Together with 11 other colleagues I am going to travel to Uganda for a week this November to see first hand how the money that we are raising for this project is being spent, and to lend a hand building the school.
Between now and then (and beyond) we are trying to raise the funds that are needed to buy the bricks, cement, tiles, plumbing, glass, furniture, kitchen utensils, and everything else that is needed to build the school - including the salaries of professional local builders (just as well, as my plastering skills are a bit ropey). This is a project that will make a huge difference to this small community. There simply aren't enough schools in Uganda, and secondary education is an essential part of helping not just the kids, but their entire families, get out of the level of poverty they find themselves in.
With your help, we can make a make a huge difference. There are 2 simple ways you can do this:
1. Make a donation on this site.
2. Use the links on www.easyfundraising.org.uk/moh every time you think about shopping online (retailers will then donate up to 15% of your spend to the cause, which is a huge amount of 'free' money!)
Many thanks
Jon
