Story
Many thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Friends Steve and Gareth and I decided to enter the New Forest 10 mile run.
Not a marathon I know but none of us have ever entered a race before it was very interesting!
We completed the race on July 11th in scortching heat but all really enjoyed it and are already looking forward to running it again next year!!!
We decided to run for charity so some good comes out of our pain and we chose Poole Hospital's Wish List campaign.
This raises money for all of the wards at the hospital for additional equipment above and beyond what is provided by the NHS, equipment that makes a real difference to patient care.
The money that we raise will be directed to 2 wards; the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Child Development Centre (CDC).
The reason being is that my 21 month old son Harrison was born 9 weeks early and had to stay within the NICU for 7 weeks. The care that they gave him, along with others we saw there who were far smaller and who were in far more life threatening conditions was amazing.
In his time there he was then also diagnosed with cerebral palsy so he now regulary attends the CDC for various therapy, such as physio, occupational, speech and so on. We have to make visits every week and he will have attend the centre regularly for many years to come too - again, the support they are giving Harrison along with other kids we have seen there is fantastic.
I really want to give something back to thank them for all the care that they gave Harrison as well as the care that they still are and will do in the future, as well as ensuring that the services and equipment offered in both wards can be as good as is possible for the children that are unfortunatley having to use them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, if only a fiver - it really will help so many young babies and children at the hospital.
Many thanks
Jon, Steve and Gareth (oh and my brother Ben; chief massuer)
