The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity dedicated to unlocking the potential in young people between the ages of 9-25 through discovery and adventure in the wild. We give them access to adventurous experiences through which they can learn to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Story

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most people know, I used to be a bit on the overweight side and have had to work hard over the past couple of years to get myself fit.  I have decided to put some of this new found fitness towards a worthy cause and so am running the 2010 London Marathon for the Outward Bound Trust.

The trust is an educational charity with a difference.  They use Mountains, Lakes, Rivers and the Sea as their classroom, working with a huge range of young people, helping them to develop essential life skills.

Participants on an Outward Bound course work together to overcome a series of challenges.  In doing so they develop self-confidence, the ability to take risks and manage decisions, insights into teamwork, improved communication skills, and learn the importance of compassion and tolerence.

The Outward Bound Trust is a non-profit making educational charity.  They have benefitted over a million young people since their foundation in 1941, one of whom was my father.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Every bit raised makes a difference, so please donate generously and help support such a worthy cause!

Thanks, Jon.
