Story
Hello
As many of you know, my brother Jon died in June after a 30 month battle with cancer. He had a brain tumour.
After diagnosis in December 2006, he began treatment in April 2007 and by the autumn of that year had surpassed all expectations and for the most part, resumed a very full and enjoyable life. He maintained this for around 18 months - but of course under the surface, the cancer never went away.
He lived very well until February of this year but at that point, his health started to deteriorate and he spent his last weeks - from the beginning of May - in Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff.
The hospital did a fantastic job of looking after Jon and as a small gesture I am trying to raise money to help them continue their brilliant work in the future. It is an unfortunate truth that more and more people are being diagnosed with brain tumours like my brothers and we all know somebody who has had cancer in some form or other.
I will be doing two things. On Saturday 10th October I will be walking up and down three mountains - the Skirrid, Blourange and Sugarloaf (near Abergavenny) - with a few of my mates. The following weekend, I will be running in the Cardiff Half Marathon, knees permitting!
Please give whatever you can for Velindre Cancer Centre, it is appreciated.
Thanks
Ben
