We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

As many of you will know it has long been my ambition to run the London Marathon and having put it off last year for the birth of my son, the training has finally begun.  Having become the parent of a happy, healthy little boy it has made me realise that not all children and parents of those children are as fortunate.

My employers, Addleshaw Goddard LLP are aiming to raise £34,545 which will fund a new electroencephalogram (EEG) machine within Great Ormond Street Hospital's Neurosciences department.  The EEG machine is a vital piece of equipment that will help ensure that children who have seizures will be properly monitored, helping the hospital reduce the risk of brain damage in children and I'm looking to raise as much money as possible to support this goal.

is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals and the only specialist children’s research hospital in the . The hospital treats children with the rarest, most complex and life threatening conditions and in partnership with the  it seeks to find new and innovative treatments for generations of children to come.

The hospital has over 200,000 patient visits every year from very sick children from across the and the world.  treats children of all ages, from birth to 18 years but almost half are under 3 years old, most require intensive care or have high-dependency needs and for many we are their last hope.

Despite being a centre of excellence, the hospital has cramped and outdated facilities and badly need new buildings and equipment to allow the hospital to continue its world class and pioneering work. While the NHS pays for the day-to-day running costs of the hospital, the charity provides the much needed funds required to refurbish and renew the oldest buildings and facilities, buy life-saving equipment, undertake pioneering research and provide essential family welfare services.

Any contribution which you can make in support of my chosen charity is gratefully received.

Thanks

Jon
