Appeal : The Richard Odell ITU (Intensive Therapy Unit) Appeal
My father, Richard Odell, spent a prolonged time in Northampton General Hospital ITU in 2002 after being the innocent victim of a serious car accident. As a result of the fantastic care provided he is now fully mended and in such good spirits that he has now been made chairman of the hospitals charitable fund appeals committee!
In 2004 the hospitals charitable fund appeals committee raised £35,000 that funded a 'state of the art' critical care transport trolley, fitted with portable life saving equipment of the type need to maintain full intensive care support during patient transfer.
In 2010 there is another push to help the hospital raise much needed funds and this time it is for an ultrasound scanner to undertake bedside echo-cardiography. The doctors at Northampton are already being trained on the the equipment but there is no hope of the equipment being purchased unless 'someone' comes up with the money. This is where we come in! We want to raise the £20,000 to purchase this scanner and in order to do this, the dream team of Jonny, Bruce, Ben, Catherine, Laura, Colin, Piers, Alexis are all going to come out of sporting retirement, get their running shoes on and in some cases actually buy a pair of running shoes and undertake the Paris Marathon on 11th April.
Please help us to reach our goal, thank you very much for all your generosity and wish us luck!
