The Meshi Centre offers a range of therapeutic services to preschool children with special education needs.  

The Programme

The Meshi Centre is a "one-stop shop" offering a range of therapeutic services to children ages 3-6 identified as having emotional, behavioural or speech problems or difficulties.  Children receive personal and individual attention.  The areas of focus of the centre include: (1) emotional development and behavioural modification; (2) linguistic, speech, and communication development; (3) cognitive development.   

Impact of additional investment 

§     continue current operations to provide vital help for preschool children

§     expand operations to four days a week

§     initiate a process of proactive mapping and identification of 3 – 6 years old children

       with special needs within the region

§     facilitate greater intervention of parents in the education and development of their child

§     provide training to kindergarten teachers in order that they have the tools and knowledge

       to identify children with special needs and refer them to the centre
