Hi and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I am running the Cardiff Half Marathon on 5th October 2014.
The half marathon is 21km long and I am going to run it in my 21st year as a Liver Transplant patient. I received a Liver Transplant in 1994, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, after being diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Wilsons Disease and I would love to raise £21,000 to support the Liver Foundation at the Queen Elizabeth, which supports the patients and families of patients suffering from all kinds of Liver disease, including transplant patients. The work they do is in addition to the current NHS services and the hospital treats patients from all areas of the UK.
Many, many patients from Wales, are referred to the QE as they are the leading European specialist in the the treatment of complex Liver diseases and I would love to be able to raise £1,000 for every year they have kept me alive since first being transferred there as a 17 year old in 1993. I travel to Birmingham every 6 months for regular checks and an "M.O.T" and, along with all other Liver Transplant recipients, will rely on their treatment, advice and specialist guidance for the rest of my life.
I am grateful for any donation, however big or small and thank you so so much for looking at my page.
Thanks
Jude
