Story
I entered this swim when I'd had a few drinks....seemed like a good idea at the time!
I am doing this for two reasons, to raise awareness of Lupus and to raise money for St.Thomas' Lupus Trust Charity...oh and for the achievement, so three really!
Only two years ago I struggled to get up the stairs because I was breathless and my limbs felt like lead.I went to bed tired,I woke up tired. I tried for more than twenty years to get a diagnosis. Without the Louise Coote unit at St Thomas',I would never have met the lovely doctor that I did and for once ,someone who took me seriously and offered me treatment, he gave me my life back, thank you.I want to give something back. The Lupus Trust Charity raises money for research and supports the Louise Coote Lupus unit.Lupus is a horrible disease and if you don't know much about it,as I didn't , please have a look at the St.Thomas' site at www.lupus.org.uk . I know that swimming a mile isn't much of an achievement for some people but for me it means the world and I hope that on the day I am having a 'good' day as opposed to a bad!
