Previous Fundraising Information

Here at Warrington Hospital’s Ophthalmic department we strive to deliver the best quality healthcare to our patients.

We are currently fundraising for two new machines that will make a huge difference to how we deliver our eye care. We are aiming to raise £50,000 to purchased these two machines:

The IOL Master is used to determine the correct strength for the lens which will be implanted into the eye.

The Endothelial Count Machine is used to assess the back of the cornea to determine the best way to do the operation.

The department at Warrington Hospital see patients attending pre-operative assessments for cataract surgery, who require the use of specialist equipment to make sure we get the best results from the surgery. The Nurse-led drop in clinic currently sees 12 or more patients at one session, we can hold up to two sessions in the day.

Unfortunately, our current resources often result in lengthy waiting times of up to 3 hours.

The purchase of these additional machines would not only reduce waiting times for our patients, but improve their experience in out department.

To date we have:

20 Ophthalmic Staff donned fancy dress outfits, gave up their free time on Saturday 2nd of April 2011, and walked through Delamere Forest to help raise funds to purchase two vital pieces of equipment: a new IOL Master and a second Endothelial Count Machine.
