I hope you will consider making a donation to help support me in my endeavour to get round 26.2 miles and support Lulu (Louise Wisson) in her aim to raise 100k for cancer charities.

26.2 miles…its an insane distance to run! Ive always felt that.  Although I know many long distance runners and have myself completed a couple of half marathons never in my life have I considered running a step further than 13 miles.  Why would anyone put themselves through that???

Well In my case it was a text we received from Lulu a few weeks ago.  

I first met Lulu about 5 years ago when she joined us on retreat just before she married the love of her life Mike.  After a gorgeously long and adventurous honeymoon they settled down into married life.  

Then came the kick in the head…Lulu was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer..she was at stage 4 …there is no stage 5. 

This lovely gal faced this horrid illness with dignity and bags of positivity ( you can read more about her on on her PMA Blog at http://louisewisson.com ) She is quite simply an inspiration and I feel blessed to have her friendship in my life.

Lulu did beat cancer, but then it came back.  

The text we received from Lulu a few weeks ago was to tell us the news that its time to stop the cancer treatment ….It isn't working!

My first thought was "oh god no…why!!!" then my second thought was "oh shit"…you see once in conversation with Lulu and Julie Brealy I joked that the only time I would ever consider running a marathon was for Lulu and matters would have to be serious.  A jokey throw away comment.

Well lovely lades and gentlemen…things are serious.  Im running the Dublin Marathon October 2016.
