Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are the 27 members of KOP Leeds 2010. This year through various fundraising activities we are raising money for VIMA one of the projects supported by the Kenyan Orphan Project (KOP). We will be running the Leeds half marathon, Swimming the Channel along with various other events.
KOP was started in 2001 by 3 medical students with the vision to fight against poverty, disease, social exclusion and injustice and to help improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Kisumu, Western Kenya.
KOP Leeds are one of 10 student groups who will be visiting and working on the projects run by KOP this summer. But without your help the projects would not exist. All money raised through this JustGiving page goes directly to the Leeds project, VIMA. VIMA is a non government organisation based in an extremely deprived area near Kisumu. VIMA offers support for OVC's in the area through a number of foster homes and carers; thereby offering personal care in a safe family environment and concentrates on the educational and material support to allow these children to live as normal a life as possible. In 2010 KOP aims to fund food and household supplies through VIMA to nine specific foster homes and also additional support to educational programmes for 37 OVC's
