Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving Page.
The Great Glen Way Walk is a 77mile route (see map in the Photos), where we will walk from Fort William to Inverness, over a period of 5 days...we are doing this to raise funds for this amazing charity......
We experienced the wonderful work of this hospice, when someone dear to both of us, (Kanta L Patel - Mum and Mami) was being cared for during her fight with Cancer. Our mum was very very dear to so many people and all lives that were touched by her were touched by the purest and most powerful love.
Even through all the pain and discomfort she always gave so much love and made everyone feel special ....only someone so special can manage that. In September of 2009, our mum passed away in the care of the hospice and leading up to this, we experienced how amazing the service of the hospice is. Often we would ask the staff, where they hide their wings when they come to work, because they were like angels, attending to every need and giving our mum the opportunity to smile in their comforting care. The last days of someone fighting a battle against a terrible disease like cancer are long and hard. The hospice did everything it could to make these days as easy and pleasant as possible, for both our mum as well as the rest of the family.St Luke's Hospice is an independent charity serving the multi-cultural/ethnic community of Harrow and Northern Brent. Unique in the area, they provide all their services free of charge to all and rely heavily on voluntary contributions from the community to ensure that they may remain open (they currently receive less than one third of their funding from the Government).
Hospice care is based on the simple idea that a dying patient is a living person, with unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. St Luke's exists to support those needs as well as the needs of their families and carers. St Luke's is not an NHS Hospital, nor an exclusive private facility. Providing care free of charge, for rich or poor, young or old, regardless of faith or belief, in a compassionate and peaceful environment, it provides a high standard of skilled medical and nursing care.
