The Great Wall of China:
- one of the seven wonders of the world - not true
- can be seen from the moon with the naked eye - not true
- the longest man-made structure in the world - true
As you may know, I am about to head over to China to run along a small section of the Wall. On 15 May I will be taking part in the half marathon which starts and finishes on the Wall and takes in some of the surrounding villages along the way. There are some pretty steep inclines and over 2,000 steps to negotiate!
While this will be a personal challenge for me, I know that I am fit and healthy enough to go and do something this insane. Not everyone is so fortunate. I am therefore taking the opportunity to raise funds for Scope, a charity which supports people with cerebral palsy in particular. ....people such as the daughter of one of my best friends.
