Where do I begin...
When I was first told my dad had prostate cancer, nearly 3 years ago, I was devastated. But after researching and finding out it was one of the slowest forming cancers I was optimistic about my dads recovery, he was being monitored closely for any changes.
Out of the blue, in June of this year, my dad suddenly became very unwell. He was admitted to hospital and was diagnosed with a rare Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST). I found this really hard to accept but had to be strong for my family. We had a few further setbacks on top of this but managed to go on a lovely family holiday before my dad had major surgery in July to remove the tumour and over half of his stomach.
My dad is now under the care of Mr Leahy at The Christie for his stomach cancer and has now also been referred for his Prostate cancer, He will begin radiotherapy at The Christie unit at Salford Royal in soon.
You don't realise the importance of such amazing hospitals like The Chrisite until you're in the situation that you or a loved one requires their services. That is why I have dedicated the last couple of months in organising my first of many charity events in aid of The Christie along with running my first marathon in April 2014.
Please donate to this amazing charity who are helping not only treat my dad with cancer but my family with support x
