Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I first did the GNR in 2007 and at the end I distinctly remember saying 'never again', but the aching feet & legs went away (with the help of some champagne :)) and before I knew it I had signed up for 3 more years!!

I had delayed an operation in 07 to allow me to run in the GNR, it went a little bit wrong (!) and I finally had my op in Feb 08, recovery was very slow and the sensible thing was to pull out of last years run. This year I have decided to go for it regardless.

I'm lucky enough to have a 'free' place so I thought I should use this opportunity to try to raise a little bit of money for some good causes.  I have two pages running to enable me to do this, this page is for the Endometriosis Society, my other Help 4 Heros.

Endometriosis UK provides services that enable those with endometriosis to understand their disease and to take control of their condition. These services include Local Groups and a free UK Helpline, both of which are staffed by trained volunteers.

Endometriosis affects approximately two million women in the UK, often physically, personally and financially.  The impact of the disease varies with each individual. The role of Endometriosis UK is to improve the lives of people affected and work towards a future where it has the least possible impact on those living with the condition.

They have been an invaluable source of information and support to me over the years, particularly in 2007 & 2008 when I suffered a particulary bad time with my health and hopefully I can continue to give a little back when I get the chance.

I have already raised in excess of £200 from a coffee morning which my mum organised at the local Methodist Church in Chester-le-Street - a HUGE thank you to my mum and everyone who supported this event.

Thank you in advance.

*Update*

Well I completed the run in 2h 34m & I succeeded in achieving what I set out to do which was to make the most of the experience & enjoy the day, the supporters were fantastic and a welcome ice pop or two along the way and some very kind people bringing their hose pipes through their houses to give us a welcome shower - it was exceptionally hot and no shade from the sun! I was bopping along the final mile on the seafront as the Red Arrows started their display so I enjoyed watching those on my way 'home'.  Thank you for visiting my page and to everyone who has donated.
