Story
After my 3rd ballot failure for the London Marathon I've decided to make a debut on the charity stage and have claimed a spot with a national charity called ASSERT.
ASSERT are a support charity run by volunteers to help support families of individuals with Angelman Syndrome. Angelman Syndrome is a rare chromosome disorder which affects 1 in 20,000 - 30,000 individuals. The main characteristics of AS are severe learning difficulties, limited or no speech, mobilitiy difficulties and round the clock care. ASSERT not only works to raise the awareness of this condition they also work to create a network of support with the families of people affected.

My bits now...I've been running for a few years, it started as a midlife crisis at 38 to run a marathon before I hit 40. The first year I ran a couple of half marathons then registered for London 2009. I failed the ballot system so decided to run the Stratford Shakespear Marathon. One year ahead of schedule I ran my first marathon in 2009. Still inspired I followed with another 3 half marathons that year. 2009 ended with another ballot failure so the plan was back to Stratford in 2010. A ripped knee ligiment put an end to that plan and 16 weeks with no training.
Recently I found I'd failed the London ballot again for 2011 which is where ASSERT comes in. Thank you ASSERT...
I'm now back from injury I'm running the Birmingham half soon which is the kick start to my training for the London marathon.
PLEASE PLEASE GIVE......
