On 13 October 2005, we will embark on an amazing challenge called Trek China in aid of Help the Aged. We will be trekking for six days along the steep and arduous paths of the Great Wall of China and surrounding countryside.
We have committed ourselves to raise a minimum of £4,400 and we would like your support in reaching this target.
Why Help the Aged?
· 25 per cent of older people live in poverty and over one million older people feel isolated and trapped in their own homes. One in six older people have gone a whole week without speaking to anyone they know.
· Half a million older people are facing some form of abuse right now - either psychological, financial, physical or sexual. The problem affects men and women, both rich and poor. Shockingly, much of this abuse takes place in people's own homes.
· There are 11.22 million pensioners in the UK. Although the UK is the world's 4th richest country, more than 2 million pensioners live below the poverty line. In 2000, a third of pensioner households lived in poverty.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Help the Aged will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
