Animals In Need is a voluntary organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals. We provide veterinary treatment where necessary, care for and rehabilitate animals until they can be released or re-homed.

I got involved with Animals In Need after sponsoring Jakey (see photo and video) as one of their long term dogs. The majority of dogs taken in by Animals In Need come from the pound where they are in danger of being put to sleep. Animals In Need take in any dog in need (that they have space for) and as a result they have a number of long term 'hard to home' dogs in their care. These dogs will remain cared for by Animals In Need until the day they find a new home - no matter how long it takes - or until they leave for 'Rainbow Bridge'.

Animals In Need work hard to give these dogs as comfortable a life as possible in the kennel environment and part of this means that they need to raise about 14k for a block of 8 kennels that are purpose built secure kennels with safety corridors and hatches for our more difficult and long term dogs. This will mean they will have their own exercise areas and access to the large exercise area where the agility equipment is.

I hope by being sponsored for my half marathon effort I can raise some money to help them with this and to help the long term dogs have more comfort in their lives, relax and hopefully enable them to show their better sides and find a forever family of their own.
