Story

RED HOT MAMMAS - HERE WE GO!!!!

The truth is that my (Kate Potts') mother has roped me into this mad encounter, and I in turn have roped my trusting friends into it!

However, I do know that this is an extremely well deserving charity that help support 30  physically disabled children in Kathmandu. Over the years Fran McGowan and the Fund Raising Committee, ably led by Meg Thomas, have been raising money to support these children. Recently they have decided that the accomodation was insufficient for the children's needs and so a spanking new, purpose built house will be finished in 2011.

The needs of the children range from terrible burns to polio and quite often the money raised goes towards new prosthetics or plastic surgery.

Please give as generously as you can so that the dream of this new building can be realised.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Big thank yous. K,K,K,A &A

About the charity

We provide long term, effective, sustainable support to 30 physically disabled children at the New Life Centre in Nepal and with virtually no administrative costs. The children usually come from remote and mountainous areas where life for a disabled child is particularly difficult and there is very little medical help or access to education. Disability may occur due to a variety of reasons but often because of untreated accidental injuries and severe burn injuries as a result of babies and young children being left unattended with open cooking fires while their parents work the land. We work closely with the children and staff at the centre assessing their needs and liaising with the local board members of the centre about the best way we can help. The main focus of our support is a commitment to provide a new home which will help the centre save a third of its budget for rent to use for other important expenses. We also help with other essential day to day costs. We liaise with other Nepali and foreign donors of the centre to ensure a web of integrated support that minimises reliance on any one agency alone, thus guaranteeing on going medical care, a caring home, a healthy diet, good education, as well as post school training and further study where appropriate.
