Story

14 July 2013: So it was the hottest day of the year so far and it was very hot indeed.  The first 4-5k felt ok but then I began to flag in the heat.  For the last 2k I resorted to jog a minute, walk a minute and crossed the line in 1:19:30 (although the iPod was showing 1:18:30). Given the pre-race training which was mainly treadmill based I had guestimated a time between 1:15 and 1:20 so I just squeaked in!

10 July 2013: Only time for a 3k run this morning before my personal training session. Made an effort to go faster and took about 30 seconds off my usual 3k time.  It will be interesting to see how this treadmill jogging will translate on Sunday.

6 July 2013: This was the final long jog before the British 10k next weekend - 9k on the treadmill.  I completed it in 67.5 minutes (1 minute faster than last time) with only 2 minutes walking.  I jogged for 7.5k before I walked and that didn't feel too bad.  The last 1.5k were pretty painful.  Hoping that the weather will cool down a bit before next Sunday

5 July 2013:  Great time in Majorca - almost started to enjoy pre-breakfast jogs along the seafront.  The goal was to jog 3 times dring the week and much to my amazement I managed it.  The worst bit was dragging myself out of bed at 6.45am to make sure that I finished before it got too hot.  The best bit was running by the beach and watching the sun rise over the Med.  The last run on Tuesday was 42 minutes constant jogging which I'm hoping was somewhere between 5-6k.  Not long now.

23 June 2013: The plan for today was to complete 9k in under 70 minutes.  I finished it in 68.5 minutes with just 3 minutes of walking.  Off to Majorca on Wednesday, so will have to start early morning jogs before it gets too hot (and before there are too many people about!).

19 June 2013: Braving the heat and the many dogwalkers I managed a 4k jog round Nonesuch Park and back to the office.  Getting in practice for training in Majorca next week.

18 June 2013:  Having started jogging again after a very long break, I thought I would do a 5k this summer.  Then the chance came up to do the 10k with a team of 20 my colleagues and I thought well why not? The answer to that is: 10k is twice 5k and at the moment it's looking like a pretty big challenge.

So I'm looking for a little motivation and that's where you could help me out if you're feeling generous.  In return for a small donation, I'll leave updates on this site letting you know how I get on and you never know I might even post a photo (a rarity worth paying for in itself!)
