The Christie - Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride · 4 July 2010 ·

NASS is only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with axial spondyloarthritis (AS), a painful, progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. An estimated 200,000 people live with AS in the UK. Our 90+ branches across the UK offer regular exercise to anyone with AS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 4th July I am taking part in the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride, which is approximately 60 miles.  I want to raise money for the National Anklylosing Spondylitis Society.  Unfortunately I was diagnosed with AS 2 years ago, which is a painful, progressive, rheumatic disease. It mainly affects the spine but it can also affect other joints, tendons and ligaments. Exercise and stretching is crutial for sufferers and can greatly influence their outcome.  NASS is fundamental in providing information and exercise classes, which not only assist physically but also provide much needed emotional support and friendship, especially for the newly diagnosed.

I am really looking forward to the ride, although I know I will find it tough.  Donations, however small, will make it all the more worthwhile.

Thank you,

Kate x
