Running a Marathon is a big challenge for anyone, I’d love to say that I’m a beacon of fitness and in perfect shape to undertake this challenge, however as I’m now somebody who spends the majority of his day (and evenings if I’m honest) sitting down, and whose nutritional "5 a day" is often spread over a week, that would be a bit of an exaggeration!
However, I’m pleased, excited and honoured to have been given the chance to represent the Willis Charity of the Year - TACT in the 2010 London Marathon.
The Adolescent and Children’s Trust (TACT) is the UK’s largest charity provider of fostering and adoption services, while at the same time campaigning on behalf of children and young people in care, carers and adoptive families. Like many of us, I was fortunate to have been brought up by two loving parents in a stable environment and I've no doubt that upbringing has enabled me to achieve the things I always wanted to do. I’m not afraid to say I’ve taken this for granted at times, and the more I read into the work TACT do, and the way their assistance and intervention gives young people a chance to progress in life, the more I'm pleased to be able to help raise some money for them.
For that reason I'm asking you to please sponsor as much as you can, for what is clearly a great cause. Every pound we can give to the Charity will make every training run worthwhile (at least that's what I’m going to tell myself!), and not only will you know that you have helped a fantastic cause, as a bonus you will be allowed some guilt-free laughing at my expense when its pelting it down outside and you remind me that I should be out training!! O, I’ve already had one of my "intelligent" friends ask how much I would like "per lap"........I’m not going round again!!
Many Thanks and hopefully we can raise a lot of cash for TACT.
